The story of our church
St. Gerasimos and St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, originally known as Saint Barbara's Greek Orthodox Church, began as a modest portable structure on a plot of land near McLaughlin Road and Derry Road in north Mississauga, bordering Brampton.

St. Gerasimos and St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, originally known as Saint Barbara's Greek Orthodox Church, began as a modest portable structure on a plot of land near McLaughlin Road and Derry Road in north Mississauga, bordering Brampton.
The vibrant Pan-Hellenic/Greek-Canadian community of Peel and Halton came together with dedication and faith to create a space for Orthodox worship. This land was generously donated by the Farantatos Foundation, led by the late Gerry Farantatos, whose vision and philanthropy made this mission possible.
Tragically, the church suffered a devastating fire that destroyed its roof. Despite this hardship, our community remains steadfast in its commitment to rebuild and grow stronger in faith.

Our Parish Preist
Father Konstantinos Chialtas
Father Konstantinos Chialtas was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He is married to Presvytera Vicki and has one son, Dimitri.
Fr. Kosta received a Bachelor of Arts (Hon.) in Political Science and a Bilingual Certificate in Public Policy and Administration from Glendon College, York University, he has done post-graduate work towards a Master in Public Policy and Management at the University of London (U.K.) and received a Bachelor of Theology (Hon.) from the Patriarchal Toronto Orthodox Theological Academy. During his time at the Academy of the Archdiocese, Fr. Kosta was named co-valedictorian and graduated cum laude from the Academy.

Fr. Kosta also served as the English Secretary to His Eminence Archbishop Sotirios, a position he started in 2018.

Our Beliefs
The Nicene Creed:
I believe in one God, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages; Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten, not created, of one essence with the Father through Whom all things were made. Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became man. He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried; And He rose on the third day, according to the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father; And He will come again with glory to judge the living and dead. His kingdom shall have no end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Creator of life, Who proceeds from the Father, Who together with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, Who spoke through the prophets.
In one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come.
